BANGKOK (Reuters) - A Thai restaurateur made what she claimed was the
world's biggest Chinese dumpling on Wednesday and gave it to the poor to
celebrate the birthday of Queen Sirikit.
Prapin Thanaviboolphol, the owner of a dim sum shop in Bangkok, told Reuters the 1,700-pound bean paste-stuffed bun was inspired by the queen's calls for free lunches for the poor and unemployed during Thailand's economic crisis. Queen Sirikit celebrated her 67th birthday on Wednesday, which was a public holiday in Thailand. |
