BBQ Pork (Char siu) Recipe


Ingredients for insides:

1-1/2 lb pork shoulder or butt
2 Tbsp white wine
1 Tbsp fresh grated ginger root
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp five-spice powder
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp hoisin sauce
2 Tbsp ketchup
1 Tbsp black bean sauce
2-3 drops red food coloring

Procedure

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Cut pork into pieces about 2 x 5-inch. Place pieces in baking dish.

Combine marinade ingredients in a bowl and mix together well.

Pour marinade on top of pork. Marinate overnight.

Fill a shallow roasting pan with water and place on oven bottom.

Place pork on a roasting rack above water pan and roast for 30 minutes.

Baste pork with marinade then return to oven and roast for 15 more minutes.

Check meat. Pork should be reddish brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
